Research News in Laguna San Ignacio, B.C.S., Mexico
The Laguna San Ignacio Ecosystem Science Program (LSIESP) and the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS) gray whale research team is preparing for what will be a very interesting and busy field season in 2019. Last June we reported on new research technologies and methods that began in 2018 to evaluate gray whales’ behavior, body condition, and reproductive health.

These collaborative research projects will continue in during the 2019 winter and they will expand our abilities for detecting and evaluating changes in gray whale behavior, body condition, growth, and health that may be evidence of stress and disturbance for gray whales resulting from environmental conditions, human activities, or some combination of factors.
